Camilla 'Omitted' From New Year Prayers
The ongoing saga of whether or not the Duchess of Cornwall is to be specifically named in Royal Prayers continues to roll on today as the Vicar of St. Mary Magdalene Church on the Queen's Sandringham Estate omitted Camilla's name during a sermon he delivered at today's New Year's service attended by the monarch and her husband. Charles and Camilla are now back in Scotland, where they enjoyed a traditional Hogmanay celebration.

Harry & Chelsy Toast The New Year Together
While his brother Prince William prefers to keep his romance with Kate Middleton very much under wraps, Prince Harry is happy to be seen to be having fun with his girlfriend, South Africa-born Chelsy Davy. And so it was perhaps to be expected that the younger Prince chose to spend his New Year holiday with Chelsy, the two of them returning to a place where, exactly a year ago, they were photographed openly kissing on their hotel balcony.

William Feels The Sharp End of The Journo's Pen
Ouch! Poor Prince William. The boy who was once the darling of the media is certainly beginning to suffer some of the injustices faced by his parents. Last month he was attacked for his use of a military jet to supposedly retrieve a pair of boots he'd forgotten (yes, it really was a ridiculous story, wasn't it?). Now, just a few hours into 2006, even the esteemed Sunday Times is having a go.

Happy New Year To You All
Well, 2006 is here...at least, I think that's why there are tonnes of fireworks exploding all around me?! For all we know the New Year may have arrived a few hours early for the Royals in Norfolk as, would you believe, there was a time when all the clocks were on 'Sandringham time' — apparently so the royals could have more daylight hours to enjoy the shooting — all of which meant the monarch and family literally were living in a different age to the rest of us (some would say that's still the case with dear old Edwardian Prince Charles!).

Anyway, we really just want to wish all our readers all the best for the New Year, we hope 2006 proves to be a happy and healthy one for you all. We also want to take this opportunity to thank you again for your continued support, it really is greatly appreciated by the small team behind The Royalist.

The Chef, The Prince, The Duchess...and Pigs!
A quite remarkable insight into the fastidious demands of Prince Charles has appeared in the UK Press this weekend. If you thought your husband or wife was difficult to cook for then think again, and be thankful that you're not expected to cater to the demands of the future King. And be especially thankful that you don't have to make his sandwiches as you won't believe the effort that goes into this particular royal meal!

Why It's Not Unusual For Sir Tom To Be At The Palace
There'll be a galaxy of stars walking down the red carpet in the Ballroom at Buckingham Palace in the coming months as yet another host of celebrities head the New Year's Honours List. Topping the bill is singer Tom Jones, who receives a knighthood.

The Press Play 'Spot The Royal Girlfriend'
All week she's been the talk of the Royal message boards, the question on everyone's lips being: where's Kate Middleton?

But now it seems that, despite reports in the Press claiming she and boyfriend Prince William would be skiing in Verbier, Switzerland come Boxing Day, the Prince's girlfriend has been spotted in far less exotic climes — in fact, she's been doing much like the rest of us, pushing through the crowds as she went shopping with Mum to the post-Christmas sales.

2005: A Turning Point For The House of Windsor?
Here at The Royalist we're thrilled to be able to welcome a new member to the team, none other than the respected royal author and historian Brenda Ralph Lewis.

A regular contributor to TV documentaries, newspapers and magazines around the world, Brenda has enjoyed a hugely successful and prolific writing career for several decades, having been there to document the very early days of Diana.

This coming year will see Barnes & Noble release Brenda's excellent guide to the Kings and Queens of England, updated to incorporate this year's events, including the historic and controversial marriage of the divorcee Prince of Wales to his long-time mistress. Meanwhile, this well respected historian's most recent publication, Churchill: An Illustrated History, continues to enjoy great success.

Here Brenda exclusively offers readers of The Royalist her own thoughts as to why 2005 proved to be a pivotal year for the House of Windsor. Could it be that the decades of heartbreak and scandal are, at last, at an end for the Royal Family?

EXCLUSIVE: Victoria of Sweden 'To Be Godmother' to Mary's Son
Don't say we at The Royalist don't endeavour to offer you exclusives before they've hit even the Press. Just days after we brought you those amazing, previously unseen images of Charles and Diana's private Royal Christmas, here's an exclusive bit of news which is yet to make the papers.

A very reliable and well placed source informs us that Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden has been chosen as Godmother to the as-yet unnamed son of Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark.

William Discovers Life at Sandringham Never Changes
It had been rumoured that, come Boxing Day, Prince William would whisk girlfriend Kate Middleton — desperate for some 'alone time' with her boyfriend? — off for some post-Christmas skiing in Verbier, Switzerland.

However, the Prince has instead been taking part in the kind of countryside pursuits which, over twenty years ago, his own mother Diana endured rather than enjoyed.

POLL RESULT: Think Again William and Harry?!
As Princes William and Harry reportedly jet off to enjoy separate Christmas holidays with their girlfriends Kate Middleton and Chelsy Davy in, respectively, Verbier and Africa, we have a poll result which surely wouldn't please either of them, especially Harry. According to you, both Princes have chosen the wrong girls to date. Our result as to who you'd prefer to see become a Princess was (drum roll please)...

MONDAY'S PAPERS: Camilla "Snubbed" By The Queen?

It's silly season in the British newspapers today with wall-to-wall front page coverage of what they ridiculously claim is a "snub" to Camilla from her new mother-in-law, the Queen.

Listen to Today's Royal Broadcast
The Queen has just delivered her 53rd Christmas Day broadcast, although it was, of course, recorded some days ago so it could be delivered to nations around the world.

Now I hear on the grapevine that BBC America isn't broadcasting HM's speech this year (perhaps one of our American readers could confirm this for us, though don't miss out on a Christmas drink to do so!). Therefore, we thought we'd offer you the chance to at least listen to the speech as we're of the opinion that everybody should be given the opportunity to hear what the monarch has to say.
