The News of the World's Royal Editor has been charged and bailed by police over allegations he hacked into voicemail messages on mobile phones belonging to Clarence House officials.
Clive Goodman, 48, left Charing Cross police station in London at 9.50pm (UK) but made no comment to waiting reporters. He and another man, Glen Mulcaire whose job is yet to be revealed, although he's said not to be a journalist will appear at Horseferry Road Magistrates' Court next Wednesday.
Scotland Yard said both men have been charged with plotting to "intercept communications, namely by agreeing to access individuals
telephone voicemail messages, in the course of their transmission by
means of a public telecommunication system, contrary to the Criminal
Law Act 1977."
Goodman and Mulcaire also been charged with eight charges of intercepting communications on various dates between January and May 2006.
The third man arrested on Tuesday was released on bail early on Wednesday morning.
