For years, we all knew exactly who was
meant when the name Fergie was mentioned. Now, though, the Duchess of
York is clearly aware that there's a new, rather more sought after
'Fergie' in town: the pin-up singer with the award-winning Black Eyed Peas hip-hop group.
Speaking on the morning show GMTV in the UK today, singer Stacy Ann Ferguson was asked if she's ever met the "other Fergie", to which she replied: "Yes, I had a conversation with her on the phone. It was great I was talking to royalty!"
"I think we are going to do some charity work together. I know that she builds schools and both my parents are teachers. I always had to get good grades so that is an important thing to me because it has helped me along in life."
The divorced Duchess of York is certainly extending her circle of showbusiness friends. Having long enjoyed the company of such luminaries as comic actor Billy Connolly and his wife, Pamela Stephenson (both of whom attended Andrew and Sarah's stag and hen parties - Pamela famously went out on the town with Sarah and Diana, all three ladies dressed as policewomen in an attempt to gatecrash the soon-to-be Duke of York's bachelor party at a London nightclub), Sarah has recently become a regular face on the showbiz scene.
Only this month she was spotted attending a party hosted by music star P. Diddy, an event to which she took youngest daughter Princess Eugenie.
The two royals happily mixed on the rap star's yacht with the likes of socialite Paris Hilton and Hollywood film star Penelope Cruz.
