The bookies are also offering 9/4 that the Queen's granddaughter wins an individual Gold at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and 11/4 for an individual Gold at the London Games in 2012.

Says Rupert Adams: "Zara Phillips obviously has a big fan club who seem certain that she will win the 2006 Sports Personality and, in what has been a disappointing year for British sport, she must be a genuine contender."

There's a history of royal news being leaked across the counters of betting shops.

A favourite bet for many Royal Ascot punters each June concerns the colour of the Queen's outfit on Ladies Day.

A minor 'scandal' erupted a couple of years ago when it was discovered a Palace worker with inside knowledge of the royal wardrobe had nipped into the local bookies and placed a large bet, ultimately walking away with a hefty win.

The following year the Palace took steps to make sure this didn't happen again, the Queen apparently not revealing to anyone but her very closest aides the colour of her outfit.

Name: Trudie	Comment: Twenty five years ago that same pressure was applied to Williams parents with very devastating consequences. If the decision to marry is based on how she looks in a bikini imagine what kind of marriage that would be. William is a very smart and sensitive young man and Kate equally so. If they marry it will be their choice not the public or media.

Name: M-M	Comment: The amount of pressure on William to marry Kate Middleton has been enormous . He has said he is not ready for that committment but the Press has made up it's mind . The fact that she looks marvelous in a bikini should be irrelevant to the choice of a life partner for him , he should be allowed to make up his own mind .

Name: Kate	Comment: There has been so much "push" by the press, for these two to marry.... what if they ( these two) decide they do not want to marry. They have been going together for a long enough time, that one or both could be "off" the other... What if William decides she is not the one, or if Kate decides the same.. Will be a lot of red faces from the media area....They both have to be happy!
