I'm An Author, Get Me Out of Here! PDF Print E-mail
Written by Joanne Leyland
Wednesday, 11 October 2006

When he left the High Court in London following his acquittal for theft in November 2002, Paul Burrell was surrounded by journalists and curious onlookers, all desperate to hear his tales of royal life.

How times have changed.....

At a book signing session at a Waterstones store in Glasgow this week, Burrell discovered that he had few takers for his second tome of memoirs, The Way We Were.

In fact, just five people bought a copy.

According to one onlooker, who cheekily asked the former Palace aide to sign his Notebook (a good way to save money!) instead of buying a book: "I didn't want an expensive doorstop."

Asked about the lack of interest in his latest royal memoirs, Burrell — who was in contention to be crowned King of the Jungle when he appeared on the 2004 series of the ITV reality show I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! — kept smiling, saying: "It has been slow but that is book signings."

"I'm sure they will sell for Christmas."

Not necessearily M-M I'm American and I will not buy this book. I must admit I did look at it in the book store just to look at the pictures of Diana's home which for a palace was very cosy and homey and full of good taste. But as for his tales I will not support a book written by a pathetic hanger on who wants to make money off a dead woman who was the epitome of class and style something this man totally lacks.thumbsdown

According to the media it hasn't been selling here in the UK and has been a major disappointment for the publishers who expected the sort of frenzy the original book made.

M&M, please see my previous post. The book is selling over in America. That being said the British pound to the American dollar is quite expensive meaning spending one GBP is like spending $2 USD. His pounds earned go twice as far in America!

It looks as if Paul Burrell will have to find some other way of supporting his American life-style - clearly books written by him about his late employer Princess Diana no longer sell .

The Way We Were is #9 on the New York Best Sellers list. Just wanted to point that out.
