The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall have arrived in Pakistan for an official tour widely seen as the most perilous of recent years.
With the tour set to receive worldwide coverage, Charles and Camilla wearing a blue trouser suit were greeted at Chaklala military airbase by banks of cameras and media representatives, as well as huge security.
Leading the official welcome was the British High Commissioner Sir Mark Lyall Grant and women's minister Sumaira Malik.
Although Pakistan has played host to previous royal tours including visits by Diana (her last in May 1997) and the Queen and Prince Philip in October 1997 this week's is deemed especially dangerous, due in part to the number of failed assassination attempts on President General Musharraf and the widespread terrorist bombings which continue to occur throughout the country.

As well as the threat from both Al Qaeda and the Taliban, the Pakistani government is also faced with growing opposition to the President's military government and rivalry between Sunni and Shia communities.
Added to these threats to security are the ongoing difficulties over the disputed Kashmir region, all of which make Pakistan one of the most politically and diplomatically sensitive countries in the world, especially for high profile foreign dignitaries such as Charles and Camilla.
Even before the couple stepped foot in Islamabad tonight, there's been one possible security breach surrounding the visit.
A Pakistani newspaper published what it claimed to be exclusive details
of the royal itinerary. Clarence House
officials refused to confirm or deny whether it is indeed the genuine
schedule for the five-day tour.

Having arrived late on Sunday, the royal tour will truly begin on Monday with a meeting between Charles and President Musharraf, during which it's believed the Prince will raise Britain's concerns over the planned execution of a Leeds-born citizen.
As previously reported, Prince Charles' intervention has already led to the execution of a 36-year-old Briton on death row being put back until December 31st, his hanging having originally been scheduled to take place during the royal tour.
While her husband meets the President, Camilla will meet separately with the General's wife, Begum Sehba Musharraf.
