The Duchess of York may be ruing the moment she said she'd love to join the cast of American TV show Dancing With The Stars.

Just weeks after Sarah declared an interest in taking to the dance floor, the producers of the hit TV series have invited Prince Andrew's ex-wife to join the cast of the next series.

Says the show's producer, Conrad Green, who appears convinced he's signed up the first 'royal' participant: "Fergie will add a touch of class to the proceedings and the fans will be waiting to see if she falls for her dance partner."

"Everyone loves a royal romance and her presence will bring dazzling ratings. We like having a mixture and we've not had a duchess."

Let's hope Sarah doesn't suffer a similar very public disaster on the dance floor as happened to the Queen's cousin-by-marriage, Princess Michael of Kent.

Performing at a charity event in the early 1990s, the imposing Princess very literally crashed to the floor on top of her bewildered dance partner, much to the delight of watching photographers.
