It's official: Zara Phillips has made
royal history by becoming the first member of the monarch's family to
be named in the Honours List.
The Princess Royal's daughter has been awarded an MBE in the New Year
Honours List. This is just the latest in a growing number of awards
presented to Zara in sole recognition of her amazing achievement in
winning both the British and World titles in equestrianism.
The official notice revealing details of all recipients includes the following citation for the 25-year-old royal:
"Miss Zara Anne Elizabeth Phillips. Individual Three-Day Event World
Champion. For services to Equestrianism. (Stroud, Gloucestershire)"
Also honoured is so-called 'wrinkly rocker' Rod Stewart. He receives a CBE just weeks after he declared he finds the Duchess of Cornwall "sexy"
(not that this has anything to do with his award - of course! - as such
honours are decided months in advance). Stewart has enjoyed a long
career at the top of the music industry and, in recent times, has
become an increasingly regular face at royal events thanks to his
support for The Prince's Trust.
