Now Ten Police Officers Guard Kate Middleton PDF Print E-mail

Look away now if you don't want to see the words 'Kate Middleton' (again): Saturday's press are set to go crazy following the sight of Prince William's girlfriend being protected by no less than TEN policemen as she left a nightclub in the early hours of Friday morning.

All of which has heightened speculation we're truly looking at our future Queen.....

The Times
(who've unusually put Kate on the front page) and Daily Mail lead the way with reports on the heightened security which is suddenly surrounding 24-year-old Kate.

However, it should be noted that on this occasion she was in the presence of her royal boyfriend as they left Boujis nightclub in Kensington, London, in the early hours of Friday morning.

It's believed William's personal protection officer was concerned at the number of paparazzi photographers awaiting the appearance of the couple.

Departing the venue at 3am, photographers were stunned to see that no fewer than ten police officers had, in the words of The Times, been "summoned to protect" Kate.

The appearance of so many police officers protecting a woman who is, at this time, a 'commoner' has truly heightened speculation that an engagement is imminent.

Earlier on Thursday, as you may have seen here, photographs showed Kate being protected by a police officer as she left her Chelsea flat.

In fact, the royal girlfriend was being guarded by four officers who had been posted to protect her as she left home. The fact is it is highly unusual for a 'commoner' (alone without her royal boyfriend) to be seen to be enjoying such heavy police protection.

The speculation about an engagement shouldn't be condemned as just more fevered speculation, for suddenly there does seem to be an increasingly high profile for the royal girlfriend and the fact is that police officers are immediately assigned to a royal girlfriend as soon as they become engaged to a royal. This happened to all recent royal brides, not least Lady Diana Spencer in 1981.
