Bookies Stop Taking Bets On William & Kate PDF Print E-mail
Written by Joanne Leyland

When Prince Charles was yet to marry Camilla, he hired two former members of staff, a husband and wife team which included a former bodyguard, to protect the woman he loved. This halted any unfair condemnation that the oft-mentioned "British taxpayer" was paying the bill for the protection of a woman who was still, legally at least, a private citizen.

Considering how keen the Royal Family and, most especially, their advisors are to be seen not to be putting added pressure on the public purse, the appearance of uniformed police officers around Prince William's girlfriend can only be taken to mean that the story is moving on and it's now only a matter of time before Kate Middleton officially enters the House of Windsor.

Once I got over the shock missing the sight of Camilla getting out of the car, there was another point in that article I almost missed, how much people were pro Kate then. Comments like she would make a beautiful princess of Wales etc.

That is the problem with continualy splattering her all over the papers, it breeds contempt for her. It is really not fair.

I think some of this stuff can condition us to be mean. I wonder if it is supposed to do that. I don't mean this site of course. I just mean in general.

I don't know, I think July 28th 2007 makes more sense, the day falls on a saturday, close to the date William's Father and Mother were married July 29th.

This is not a prediction, just a guess.

I think Kate might be feeling a bit unnerved by the whole thing, and I don't remember the paparrazi trying to get pictures of Camilla's legs while she was getting out of the car after a night on the town. Did I miss something?

I certainly hope not, I love these articles, and I love the way they are written.

Oh, Joanne, don't feel bad, It'll probably take me till March to quit writing 06 instead of 07! Hopefully in a few days the Royals will get back to their routine and there will be something to write about instead of just Kate. I'm sure she'll be the most pleased of all to have a little of the pressure off.

Thanks for your encouragement Hope. I hugely appreciate it.

I'm not having a great week when it comes to dates....I keep forgetting that we're in 2007 so if you see any new pictures dated January 2006 blame it on the excesses of Christmas! laughing-smiley

Hi Hope.Gosh, you were quick as I literally changed that moments after I wrote it as I realised I'd accidentally looked at 06 rather than 07. Sorry about that. Bear with me, I'm stressed.....too much going on.....there's no rest for the royal blogger!Seriously, thanks for pointing it out - I had already noticed it (honest!). The page should update again very soon as I changed this a while ago.Joanne

Interesting assessment of a proposed wedding date. July 19, 2007 falls on a Thursday, not a Friday.

I hope this is merely wagering and speculation. William seems intent on honoring his mother's memory this summer with both the Concert for Diana and the memorial service. If he were to marry, his wedding would certainly eclipse these celebrations. I would like to think that he is not that selfish.
