I have in mind the widow of Group Captain Peter Townsend. The first love and well-known ex of Princess Margaret, the divorced Townsend married his second wife, Belgian heiress Marie Luce, and settled on the continent, where they produced a new family.

But this pertinent information does not attract sufficient space in most biographies of the Group Captain. Even Townsend’s two sons by his first wife are afforded little mention.

As far as too many writers are concerned, none of them count, which is a pity.

From the ex of a king's daughter to the ex of the queen's daughter and another figure who suffered a similar fate: Sandy Pflueger, a top American equestrienne, married Princess Anne's first husband, Captain Mark Phillips.

I pity her daughters as I have children the same age and if I behaved in the fashion she does they would be deeply hurt and shamed. She is an ex royal who cannot keep out of the limelight. Comment: Regarding Queen Noor...It would only make sense that King Abdullah and Queen Rania come to the forefront and Queen Noor recedes to the background. This is really a very complex family and their histories. I never realized that King Hussein had been married FOUR times and each was a "fruitful" union. However, Queen Noor is still very much a supporter of the current king and consort and of the country she married into. She is always helping and broadcasting the woman's role and the importance of education for women in that area of the world, and promoting strong ties between Jordan and other countries. I always admired Group Captain Peter Townsend, and how he got on with his own life after his relationship with Margaret ended. Also the fact that he NEVER spoke to the press. He did put out one book, but that did not centre totally on that relationship. Other "exes" I admire is Koo Stark (although not wedded to Andrew). She has never said a word about her relationship and the treatment by the monarchy she received. As far as Camilla goes in her role of "stepmama" to Harry and William - I believe it is all for show. After all, she certainly was not a role model mother to her own two children during the years her main priority was the relationship with Charles and keeping him coming back for more! So I don't expect she had much parental influence on the two Princes. I am sure they decided to do anything to keep their "short tempered" Daddy happy. Although, I don't respect their decision to accept this woman. I really enjoyed the article, as it was a lesson on the lives of the European royals...

Comment: A few thoughts on this long article . First , Sarah Ferguson - What a nightmare for anyone seeing Andrew . She has inferred to the Press many times that they still have a sexual relationship - divorced or not . This , of course , may or may not be true . Since he has had many GFs since their divorce it seems unlikely . She clings to her Princess/daughters as well - they are and always will be a Tripod she says . The same does not hold true for Andrew , as far as we know , he does not have a permanent room in any residence she has , and he has never opened his mouth about their relationship since the divorce . It was reported that Alexandra of Denmark and her BF Martin Jorgenson celebrated New Years with Joachim and GF Marie Cavalier plus the small Princes and some friends . They are trying to move on . IMO Alexandra is more likely to be a problem for CP Mary than for Marie Cavalier , with whom she has to make a smooth relationship for her own sake . There are so many Royal half brothers and sisters in Jordan after the 4 fruitful marriages of the late King Hussein , that the only ones apart from the King and Queen who stand out IMO are the attractive Hamzah (Noor's son) and Haya (Alia's daughter) with her extraordinary decision to become a second wife to that forbidding Sheik in Dubai for Part one .
