Acknowledged for her elegant fashion sense and devotion to charity work, Princess Alexandra of Denmark has been referred to as the "Diana of the North."
With her engaging smile and warm personality, she was embraced by the Danish people upon her marriage to Prince Joachim, the younger son of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and Prince Henrik, on November 18th 1995.
Sadly, Alexandra and Joachim decided to separate after nine years of marriage in 2004. The divorce was finalized on April 8th 2005 the very day on which another royal couple, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles, were originally destined to start their married life before the funeral of Pope John Paul II pushed the wedding back until the next day.
Unlike Sarah, Duchess of York in Britain, Princess Alexandra has successfully moved on from her royal life and discovered love a second time around.
Later today, Saturday 3rd March 2007, Alexandra will marry her photographer boyfriend, Martin Jørgensen.
