Page 2 of 3 Whilst her first wedding was a magnificent affair, attended by heads of state from across the world, Alexandra's second marriage will take place away from the cameras at Øster Egede Church (East Oakgrove Church). The ensuing wedding reception will be held at Jomfruens Egede (Virgins' Oakgrove), near the town of Fakse south of Copenhagen, Denmark. Ironically, the owner of the establishment is the half brother of Caroline Heering, a lady-in-waiting to Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, Alexandra's former sister-in-law. Alexandra has seen considerable changes in her life since she first met Joachim, now third-in-line to the Danish throne, over a decade ago. Just twelve months later, whilst on a trip to the Philippines, Joachim asked Alexandra to become his wife. However, it was to be some months before the royal engagement became public knowledge when, following the official announcement, the couple appeared before the press for a photocall in May 1995 during which the royal bride-to-be proudly showed off her ruby and diamond engagement ring. |
