Prince William and Kate Middleton are back in the spotlight after being snapped apparently enjoying a kiss and a cuddle during what was supposed to be a 'private' skiing holiday in Switzerland.
When the couple decided to enjoy a pre-Easter holiday, they likely hoped they'd be able to stay completely anonymous beneath their ski wear and goggles.
How wrong they were!
Unfortunately for the Prince and his girlfriend, an initial report of the royal holiday which appeared earlier this week seemed to suggest that their cover was blown by a member of the public. Spotting one of the world's most famous men nearby, he apparently took a photograph and decided to alert the world's media to their appearance on the slopes.
And so it is that the press pack appears to have descended on the couple and a private moment between William and Kate is featured in some of Thursday's newspapers.
Their apparent cuddle came just a day after British Members of Parliament heard evidence from Sun photographer Arthur Edward that the couple will definitely marry.
The result of the Select Committee hearings on the media's treatment of Kate Middleton was the advice from one senior Tory MP that the future King's longtime girlfriend be given her own police protection to guard against any possible threat to her security.
Claimed Nigel Evans MP: "This girl deserves proper police protection to guard her against the terrorist threat."
Unlike his younger brother Prince Harry, who is far more open about his feelings it's difficult to imagine the more secretive William speaking about his "amazing" girlfriend, as Harry did in refernce to Chelsy Davy on national TV the second-in-line to the throne tends to keep his feelings very much in check.
The result is that we're yet to truly see any great public affection between William and the young woman he's widely expected to wed.
It could be argued that he is simply being incredibly sensible. After all, he witnessed for himself the media scrum which regularly surrounded his late mother, Diana. It's probable that he doesn't wish to see similar pressure exerted on Kate.
The astute Prince likely realises that if he did suddenly begin to make regular appearances kissing his girlfriend, there'd be even more pressure on him to marry sooner rather than when he decides he (and Kate) are genuinely ready.
Considering the way in which Fleet Street works, however, it's a little surprising that in the first editions at least, only one national newspaper in Britain has decided to heavily feature the couple on the front page. However, a similar image also appears on the front page of Thursday's Sun, albeit in a much smaller form.
As some of Fleet Street's picture editors would likely argue, though: it's not exactly the most sizzling photo we've ever seen of a couple in love.
In fact, am I the only one to think the particular image seen above looks little more than William whispering into his smiling girlfriend's ear?!
