Buckingham Palace has announced further details of the Queen and Prince Philip's itinerary for their upcoming State Visit to America.
The couple, pictured here welcoming backbench Members of the British Parliament to a Palace reception in the State Drawing room on Tuesday evening, are preparing for what will be their fourth State Visit to the United States.
The royal tour will take place between May 3rd and 8th and will begin with a visit to Virginia. Here the couple will be at the heart of celebrations for the 400th anniversary of the Jamestown settlement.
What is undoubtedly the personal highlight of the tour for the Queen will come on May 5th when she fulfills a lifetime's ambition by attending the Kentucky Derby.
However, diplomatically at least, the high point of the
tour is undoubtedly the Queen and Prince Philip's appearance in
Washington D.C from 6th May.
Here they'll be hosted by President George W. Bush and his wife, First
Lady Laura, at the White House for meetings which will further
strengthen the already 'Special Relationship' between Britain and
America.
