First it was claimed the Spice Girls would re-form to lead the music world's tribute to Diana in this, the 10th anniversary year of her death.
Now the speculation is that Take That will headline this summer's Concert For Diana following a request from her sons, William and Harry.
According to the Daily Mirror, the line-up for the July 1st concert will be dominated by several acts who were at the height of their fame during the Princess's lifetime. The televised event will take place at the new Wembley Stadium on what would have been Diana's 46th birthday.
Those invited to perform at the show include Dire Straits, Duran Duran, Take That and Diana's Canadian-born friend, singer Bryan Adams.
Non-pop acts preparing to make an appearance will reportedly include The English National Ballet, of which Diana was a very active Patron, and West End impresario Andrew Lloyd Webber.
While her youngest son Harry's favourite childhood show was Starlight Express, Diana was a huge fan of a wide range of musical theatre, her all-time favourite production being Phantom of The Opera.
The Princess is reputed to have seen the award-winning show, which originally starred Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman, more than five times.
