No Easter Parade of Royals At Windsor PDF Print E-mail
Written by Joanne Leyland

It was less an Easter parade and more a trickle as the Royal Family attended the traditional Easter Sunday service at Windsor.

For many years, the Easter Sunday appearance by the royals was one of the highlights of the royal calendar thanks to the colourful sight of the royal ladies in all their finery and the royal children eagerly accepting the chocolate gifts from the crowds.

However, in recent times the royal Easter has appeared little different to any other Sunday at Easter, the Prince of Wales and his sons, William and Harry, having opted out of proceedings (allegedly to the dismay of the monarch).

And so it was that this year the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh were joined by only a handful of members of their family.

Not that the crowds were deterred from turning out to see the royals who made the short journey from Windsor Castle to St. George's Chapel.

Accompanying the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh were the Princess Royal and her husband, Tim Laurence, as well as the Earl and Countess of Wessex (Edward and Sophie), although sadly for the watching crowds little Lady Louise Windsor was once again absent from public view.
