Page 7 of 7 The reality is none of us truly knows what is going behind the doors of Clarence House or the Middleton family home. It truly could be, and from reports today, likely is that Prince William has simply fallen out of love with his girlfriend. It is a sad fact that many University romances simply do not last. However, such is the amount of spin and the depth of the machiavellian ways which have impacted upon the most recent history of the House of Windsor that it is invariable there will be many wondering if this split has been manufactured as a perfect way to save Kate from the increasingly frenetic behaviour of the more unsavoury elements of the press and the perennial claims of an 'imminent engagement'. As a royal intimate informed the Sunday Times, William may well have met Kate "five years too early". However, Prince Andrew openly admitted that the Palace has lied to the media for over two decades. In this instance, there is a get out clause for the royals and the officials who track their every move: as you will have realised, no official statement has been released confirming that William and Kate have split. Therefore, if ever the two did get back together, aides can simply brush off this weekend's storm of intrigue with the official line: "We never comment on Prince William's private life."
However, don't be surprised if in the months or even years ahead, we awake to another surprise headline exclaiming: 'William and Kate: Back Together!'
