The royals are going green and so too are visitors to at least one of their historic estates.
An environmentally-friendly visitors centre has been built at the Scottish home of the late Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother.
With expansive views of the Pentland Firth, the £900,000 centre is almost as impressive as the home which the grieving Queen Mother bought following the death of her husband, King George VI, in February 1952.
Seeing the castle for the first time and being informed that it was in danger of becoming increasingly decrepit and abandoned, the Queen Mother declared: "Never! Its part of Scotlands heritage. I'll save it".
Although she herself died in 2002, at the grand old age of 101, Queen Elizabeth's home continues to be a major draw for royal watchers and history lovers worldwide.
