A
Clarence House aide says Prince William and Prince Harry are "extremely
disappointed" that Channel Four bosses have ignored their pleas to remove the graphic images from the new documentary, Diana: The Witnesses In The Tunnel.
The programme, which examines the role of the
paparazzi in the Diana death crash, will be shown tonight following
weeks of speculation and controversy.
According to a spokesman: "The princes are extremely disappointed at Channel 4s
decision to go ahead with the programme.
The hour-long documentary will be shown after the watershed at 9pm tonight.
Thanks to the resulting controversy surrounding the contents, the offensive part of which is said to last for just seconds, its possible
that more people than ever will watch Diana: The Witnesses In The Tunnel,
although the show is being broadcast at the same time as the England football
teams crucial Euro 2008 qualifying match in Estonia.
William and Harry's Private Secretary, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, wrote to Channel 4 after he and the
princes communication secretary Paddy Harverson attended a private preview of the documentary last Thursday.
The two men then briefed William and Harry on the contents of the documentary,
following which its believed William in particular pushed for his private
secretary to act. Harry is currently at a military training camp in Canada.
