She's remembered as England's Rose, a lady who was proud of her aristocratic lineage. He's the head of a family with distinctly Germanic links.

And so it was that Diana, Princess of Wales stood defiant and reminded an increasingly exasperated Prince Philip of her Spencer roots when she was warned she was in danger of being stripped of her royal title...

Diana's latest biographer has been recalling a rather amusing exchange which took place between the estranged Princess of Wales and her father-in-law, Prince Philip at the height of her divorce proceedings from Prince Charles.

Speaking to Sky News to promote the newly published Diana Chronicles, Tina Brown offered a new tidbit of information about a woman whose life and personality has been probed like no other.



During her research for the book, which she intonated has been wrongly depicted as an anti-Diana tome, the former Editor of Vanity Fair recalls how she met a royal insider who told of Diana’s defiance against an increasingly exasperated Duke of Edinburgh.
