Judge Orders Magazine Ban Over Prince Felipe Cartoon

A
magazine is being removed from the shelves of newspaper stands and stores after
publishing a disrespectful front cover cartoon of Crown Prince Felipe.
A complaint has been lodged at the State Prosecution Office by an unidentified
person/s in light of the appearance of a front cover featuring a cartoon in which Felipe and his wife,
Crown Princess Letizia, are depicted having sex.
The cartoon was a reference to the decision by the Government to pay 2500 to
the parents of every child born. This policy has been implemented to encourage
couples to help increase the birth rate in Spain following a significant decrease in recent years.
Following the complaint, Judge Juan del Olmo ordered the removal of every copy
of El Jueves magazine.
The publication has also been told to identify the
artist behind the cartoon, which depicts the caricature of Prince Felipe telling his wife: "Just
imagine if you end up pregnant. This will be the closest thing to work I've
ever done in my life."
Anybody found guilty of having insulted the royal family in Spain faces up to
two years in prison.
Comment: I think though that cartoon will make the cartoonist famous, apparently there were so many people that went to the original site, the server crashed, so that is why I posted that link.
If they hadn't said anything, I bet no one would have noticed the magazine. They could have pulled it off the shelves. Turning it into such a big deal, made me want to go and look at it, and I don't even like cartoons like that.

Comment: Hi Exploora.
Honestly, don't worry about, there's no need to apologise as it was a general note and it's not something any of us would have realised as it's a programming problem.
Thanks for your reply as I appreciate it, but please don't worry and do keep up posting Comments and any links.

Comment: The person who drew this cartoon should be issued with a fatwah.........they should gain at least 200lbs

Comment: Hi Joanne, I am really really sorry, and will do that of course. I should have been thinking, about that instead of that stupid cartoon, and I think that kind of vile input to one's brain is bound to affect one's output. I am really sorry.

Comment: Hi everyone.
Can I just ask that if you leave a link in the Comments section you divide it over at least two lines (as it now is below). The reason is any long links throw the HTML alignment of The Royalist out (it's to do with boring code and programming).
Apologies to anyone who visited this page earlier and saw that this had happened as the page would have been unreadable.
Thanks for listening!

Comment: It really is vile. I wouldn't have been able to imagine a cartoon like that. Of course I will leave it up to your imagination what I was imagining, but one more funny. The concept I think was funny, the cartoon was vile, great word thanx Laura.

Comment: What a vile cartoon to plaster on the front of a magazine. But thanks explooer for giving the link. It was interesting to see what all the disgust was about!

Comment: Sadly this is what happens, m-m goes to see it just because it is important to see it to comment on it fairly, then I go and see it,
And now I think the cartoon I imagined was much better, still not right, this kind of vulgar inuendo is never right, sadly, it is a sick joke that does have its funny side. I can see how it appeals to the true cynic, I would like to assure my Mother if she is reading this, this kind of thing does not appeal to me.

Comment: The cartoon was supposed be seen in context of the fact the Spanish government announced it would pay couples nearly $3,500 for each new baby born...hence the joke...which is funny...but of course not right...the sicker the joke sadly the funnier it is, for a true cynic sick jokes make them laugh, I would suspect.

Comment: Cartoons such as the one described not only is an insult to the crown couple but to any couple regarding a personal decision whether or not to have a child.
