This
month, one of the world’s most famous ladies is enjoying something the rest of
us take for granted – peace and quiet.
The Queen is currently embarked on her annual holiday at her beloved Balmoral Castle.
Her red boxes containing dispatches from government offices in London and Commonwealth nations across the globe will continue to play a daily part in her routine, but for a few
weeks at least, 'Lilibet' is primarily a country woman, savouring
the land she loves and the privacy so many in public life crave.
But as Prince Andrew discovered, one has to go a long way to enjoy true
anonymity....
In 1982, the future Duke of York risked life and limb alongside other servicemen and women as he fought with some distinction as a Sea King helicopter pilot alongside British forces in the Falklands conflict.
In the years since, Andrew has enjoyed several visits to
the tiny islands he and his military colleagues helped save from
Argentine rule.
One stay during his extended tour of duty on the Falkland islands in the months after the conflict was to be especially memorable.
