Stationed in the Falklands with his regiment, the off-duty sailor decided to go off on a fishing trip to West Falkland.

Here came across a lone shepherd, Claude Molkenburgh, a man who'd chosen an existence which is far removed from the hustle and bustle of the life to which royalty are accustomed.

Seeing him tend his land, the Prince stopped for a chat with Claude, who asked his unexpected visitor if he owned any dogs.

Andrew said yes, he and his family own corgis.

It was clear that the penny had yet to drop and Claude truly didn't recognise that he was in the company of the man born His Royal Highness The Prince Andrew Albert Christian Edward, second son of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh.

Claude wasn't too impressed by the breed of dog owned by his new companion, saying: "Useless for sheep work".
