Diana Inquest: Jury Will Hear 'Intimate Details' About Diana's Life PDF Print E-mail

The judge presiding over the inquest into the deaths of Diana, Princess of Wales and Dodi Al Fayed has said that it may never be known for certain if the Princess was pregnant at the time of her death.

Continuing his extensive opening address to the jury on the second day of the official inquest, Lord Justice Scott Baker raised the question of whether the 36-year-old Princess may have been expecting a baby, as repeatedly claimed by Dodi’s father, Mohamed Al Fayed.

Having already stressed that Diana could not have been pregnant with Dodi’s baby at the time famous photographs were taken of the Princess wearing a leopard-skin swimming suit on the beach in the South of France – the reason being the two had not yet embarked on a romance – Justice Baker told the jury there was evidence that the Princess had been using the contraceptive pill.

Discussing this matter as part of an exhaustive examination of Mohamed Al Fayed’s claims that Diana was 'murdered' by forces working for the British Establishment so as to stop the Prince of Wales’ ex-wife having a baby with, and marrying, a Muslim man, Judge Baker told the jury: "First, her pregnancy or suspected pregnancy is said to have provided the motive or part of the motive for killing Diana."

"Second, her body was embalmed by the French and it is said that the purpose of this was to conceal that she was pregnant."

Continued Lord Justice Scott Baker in an opening address which began at 11am on Tuesday morning: "It is likely that pregnancy is a matter that cannot be proved one way or the other in scientific terms in this case."

"You will, of course, consider the scientific evidence such as it is but you will also hear evidence from several sources about what Diana had to say to her friends, and intimate details of her personal life."

They didn't know each other long enough for Diana to become pregnet, unless she was in bed with him from the first nite of meeting, onward.. and then I still doubt that she wouldn't have requested protection. She didn't know his habits and the list of women he had bedded in the past couple of years!! She was not stupid!!!In fact, had I been her, anyone of the men that claimed they went to bed with her,(hewitt, Hoare- Dodi -true ladies men) I would have asked them to get a medical and have the doctor send her a copy of any results. before starting an affair..
blue-smiley Maybe that's a stretch... but I believe she would have looked after herself , in a relationship...

Yes, you recall correctly Anyacat, the doctor that did the autopsy said that he had examined the uterus and she was not pregnant. Frankly, Anyacat one might assume the French would have done a lot of things that they apparently didn't do! I rather have my own idea about some of this, but the French may just be covering up their own incompetence. And your right too, Monika, I had forgotten that, but I'm sure birth control pills would have disappeared in a second. But I still wonder why someone just doesn't ask her OB GYN if he'd prescribed them for her. How hard could that be?

Diana's personal effects would have been in Dodi's apartment, which means his father would have gone through them. Hasn't that been established at some point...I seem to recall that. IF there were birth control pills to be found, who knows if they made it past the waste basket. blue-smiley

One assumes that the French are able to conduct a thorough autopsy from which any pregnancy would have been discovered. If I recall correctly (and I may not) it was stated at the time that Diana was not pregnant. No blood test is needed as the organs are removed and examined. The question then becomes whether the French doctors falsified medical records.

As for the murder conspiracy, I suspect that those who believe there was a plot will believe there was a plot regardless of what the inquest finds.

I don't understand why they weren't able to do a pregnancy test. They should have had blood. I can't believe they didn't draw blood for at least a type and crossmatch in case she needed to be given blood. That's basic! They should also have done a pregnancy as a routine matter before doing x-rays! Here, at least, a routine pregnancy is done on all women of childbearing age before x-rays are done, unless they have had a complete hysterectomy. The French Emergency system must really be something!!

Her personal effects were gone through and removed right after she was pronounced dead, according to Paul Burrell. Who did this and on whose orders was it done? I say again, we should leave no stone unturned, if proper procedure had been followed at the time of the crash, proper crash scene investigation etc, with more openess and less secrecy, without a doubt, we would not be mystified by more than a few factors today.
If a timely thorough British Inquest had taken place a lot of this would have been explained......people want answers, simple really.

If Diana was pregnant and no one yet knew about it with the exception of herself, Dodi and Dodi's father, then I would be interested to know just how the French are supposed to have embalmed her to cover up a pregnancy that they didn't know existed. Were they perhaps clairvoyant? Further, where is the Doctor that did the pregnancy test that confirmed this alleged pregnancy? Has anyone bothered to ask her OB-GYN if she was taking birth control pills? Has anyone asked her pharmacist if she had such a prescription and if it had been filled? Was there a container of birth control pills in her effects? Simple questions, but fairly easy to answer, if, that is, anyone were to bother.

OMG Cannot these people rest in peace. This phantom pregnancy is rubbish. They had only just embarked on a relationship--no one even knows what degree of intimacy there was in this relationship after 2-3 months. She did not become pregnant from any of her other liasons, why would she now? And with a known playboy of all people.

Her breeding ingrained in her such a sense of propriety that she was not given to "outrageous" behavior. Even in her tell-all interviews, she maintained the appearance of injured dignity that was her public persona and her stock in trade--ie the Taj Mahal pictues. The innocent "wronged wife" could hardly run off with a playboy, get pregnant and still maintain her tremendous popularity. She would never disappoint her people that way.

Regardless of what is truth, perception is 100% and she had every reason to be careful due to the "Mistress (slut) vs Wife (lady) situation that she had, and she of all people understood perception. She would never put herself in the position of being perceived the way CPB was.

IMO Mr Fayad is compensating for his own treatment of his son, and his own lost hopes. It is terrible to lose a child, one buries ones own future with that child. But his murder accusations are ludicrous. The automobile was not faulty, the driver was drunk, only one passenger was wearing a seatbelt even though they left the hotel in the midst of pandemonium.

How could this be a murder conspiracy given the sheer number of people involved and the perfect timing that would be required? Given the high prices paid by the tabs for information, something surely would have leaked somewhere.

Let them rest in peace. We do not need to be privy to any more "intimate details".
