A
former aide to Diana, Princess of Wales has suggested that Clarence House,
acting on behalf of Prince William, have manipulated the latest furore about 'media
harassment' of the prince and his girlfriend, Kate Middleton.
Speaking in an interview broadcast on American TV last night, Dianas former
Private Secretary, Patrick Jephson, questioned the version of events offered by
royal spokesman Paddy Harverson in the statement condemning the aggressive behaviour of
the paparazzi.
The statement revealed that Prince William was "concerned" by the behaviour of the paparazzi who allegedly used motorbikes to chase the car carrying himself and Kate through the streets of London following their rare joint departure from Boujis nightclub at
2am on Friday morning.
Referring to film which shows the car carrying William and Kate speeding away
from the Kensington club, leaving behind a group of paparazzi photographers, Patrick
Jephson noted: "The footage I've been shown doesn't show anybody setting off
in pursuit of William's car."
"There are those who are perhaps rather cynically thinking this is William's
press spokesman trying to encourage a bit of a favourable publicity for tighter
privacy laws."
Meanwhile, the photographer who took the photographs of William and Kate
together for the first time in public since their April split has defended his
actions.
