BBC: Blackmail Plot Involves 'Minor Royal' PDF Print E-mail
Written by Joanne Leyland
Sunday, 28 October 2007

The BBC is reporting that the alleged blackmail plot involving a member of the House of Windsor does not involve a senior royal.

According to the Corporation, the alleged attempt to extort £50,000 in return for a videotape which purportedly shows a sex act, relates to a member of the Royal family with "a low public profile".

The allegation also concerns a royal passing an envelope of cocaine to a member of staff.

exploor --- on the other thread about this scandal, I suggested the amount of money the blackmailers asked for is almost pauperly ( if ther is such a word)..£50,000 is not a lot of money. One would think if one was going to shake down a British royal, minor or senior, and if the chances of being caught ( the way they have), the amount would have been much more. Why not £200,000 thousand ? Perhaps, the small amount, requested is symbolic of what is on that tape. blue-smileyIMO anyway...blue-smiley

Possibly if there is no sex tape, it is possible the other part didnt happen either. Or it is possible it did happen and the person was told it had been taped. That is horrible.

This whole thing is a very strage event.

The example below is not the same thing. Though I am sure it must have devastated them too.

A person trusted someone enough to have their whatever wherever, if that is what even happened, and then being blackmailed like that, is probably very damaging for the person. It probably should be sealed, and hopefully soon, who ever is leaking the other stuff, will have their lips sealed too.

If the video evidence is true , the awful thing is that it could plausibly be any one of the Windsor males involved .

The word 'minor' may or may not be true , if the Royal were truly 'minor' then surely he would have to take his 'medicine' and the hearings would not all be held in secret .

Even Gerald Grosvenor , Duke of Westminster was exposed in the Press for his sexual behaviour .

Well I can't believe the alleged "act" was handled so graciously on this site, but I think that is the point.

It sounds like who ever it was, was having a private act and he was assuming there was no videotaping, and that is what the crime is, videotaping someone, for the alleged purpose of extortion after alleging involving the victim in an alleged "private" act.

It is amazing this stuff doesn't happen more often though relating to extortion. That is what I mean about security risk and Facebook risk, privacy has to be protected and fought for.

I think the best thing about this site we remember it is an option to be gracious and it makes us look like better people, even feel like better people.

I know who I thought it was.clown

It is sort of what happened to Fergie, she had no idea she was going to be photographed getting a toe job, in her case, it wasn't a blackmail case but it sure must have devastated her terribly, especially assuming the person was her friend.

Of course the public buys tabloids expecting to see this kind of stuff.

At least the minor role handled the issue right, and did not allow these people to succeed in their alleged evil plot.

It is now possible the royals don't even care if people know they get privacies, considering nothing is private, a person could drive themselves nuts with frustration and disappointment expecting privacy and thus avoid getting privacies.

Why does such a minor role have an office and aid?

Do we the tax payer in the common wealth and Great Britain get satisfaction from this office, regardless if he allegedly does, do we?

Of course it's a low profile royal. If it were one of the more senior members, we would have never heard about it. I am curious how the BBC knows it's a "minor royal" when Buckingham Palace isn't commenting and the court records have been sealed?

I don't feel in the least bit sorry for these ridiculous people. They are the authors of their own misery and they're surrounded by people and an establishment which never holds them accountable for their actions or stupidity.
