There
are a few younger royals who wouldnt be too thrilled to be guests of honour at a cocktail
party at which they couldnt enjoy a strong beverage or two.
Not surprisingly, though, the Countess of Wessex was more than happy to simply
enjoy the atmosphere as, just weeks away from the birth of a brother or sister
to Lady Louise Windsor, Sophie made an appearance at an event at the Chelsea Hospital in London.
Prince Edward's 43-year-old wife showed her own sense of
style in a wardrobe combination which saw the Countess covering her
bump with a black and white zig-zag patterned dress and a fashion
accessory which hasn't often been seen on the royal ladies since the
1980s and the heady days of 'Dynasty Di': shoulder pads.
Sophie's appearance at the hospital which is home to the
illustrious Chelsea Pensioners heralded another relatively busy week of
engagements for a lady who is now around eight months pregnant.
The Countess has been presenting awards at a ceremony at Plasterers'
Hall in London at which she helped bring wider acknowledgment to those
sections of society who've beaten the odds by leaving behind state
welfare or even homelessness by rebuilding their lives after finding
employment.
Comment: I think Sophie is appreciated. The Queen is close to Sophie and gets on well with her and her family.

Comment: The royal family didn't apprieciate Diana so I hope they are not blind to Sophie and the genuine asset she has become to the RF. Sophie should now slow down a bit. Though it is lovely to see her so radiant and healthy I can't help but think of the problems she had when she had Louise and hope and pray Sophie and Edward do not have to endure such a worry this time around.Sophie you are a really classy and chic mother to be.
Name: Kate
Comment: I agree as well, that Countess Sophia is the true star of this RF. Only Princess Anne can be placed ahead of her.. The Queen must be very happy that Edward and Sophie, appear to be happy and together spiritually.Once this wee baby is born, I hope that event only adds more happiness and strength, to their union...

Comment: I am sure that Edward and their daughter have a big role in her happiness and glow. Cheers for the Wessexs'!

Comment: That is true, Monika, but a girl can dream can't she? LOL!
M-M, I agree whole heartidly!

Comment: If the RF only realized it Sophie is their star performer - charming , presentable , dutiful , still young enough to have royal children - who are always interesting , and not dogged by past ill deeds or scandal .

Comment: Laura, perhaps each lady came along exactly when she was needed.

Comment: I always think it's a shame Sophie didn't marry Edward in the 1980's. We would of had that powerful duo of Princess Diana and Sophie working together, making the RF something to be proud of. It could of been awesome and show stopping. (I know the ages dont work out, Sophie was young in the 1980's but I can dream can't I?......)

Comment: Laura, I absolutely agree. Sophie looks terrific and she is an excellent role model.

Comment: Thanks so much for the lovely pictures of Sophie, Joanne. Much appreciated.
to Sophie. I am sure on these chilly October nights Sophie would rather put her feet up in front of the tv watching some of her favourite shows then going out on show while so heavily pregnant, and so it's amazing that she looks so healthy and happy. She is a gem, and a true assest to the Royal Family and I can't wait for the baby to be born healthy and happy.
I love the outfit too. I'm sure both the dress and coat could be tailored and worn again after her pregnancy. A lovely, neat look in classic black and white. Wonderful.
