The woman who was quite possibly the
closest friend of Diana, Princess of Wales has said that she feels the Princess
is "lonely in death" on her island grave at Althorp.
Speaking in an exclusive and rare interview which has been published in the London Evening Standard, Lucia Flecha de Lima has also hit out at Mohamed al Fayeds
ongoing quest to prove that Diana was the victim of a "murder"
plot perpetrated by forces acting on behalf of the British Establishment.
Admits Lucia, whom Diana is known to have looked upon as a second
mother, her relationship with her own (Frances Shand Kydd) having been tempestuous: "I am furious about this inquest. They won't let her rest, and she must be left
to rest for her boys, for the family, for the country."
"It's awful to see
those pictures of the crumpled car again. Let people remember her as she was, a
beautiful, compassionate, loving woman."
Continues the wife of the former
Brazilian Ambassador to London, at whose residence Diana often took refuge away
from the confines of Kensington Palace: "He {Al Fayed} should stop. He should
have stopped long ago and accept that it was a tragic accident. He lost his
eldest son and of course that is terrible. But it was just an accident."
"I understand that he wants to prove that it wasnt the fault of his driver or
of his protection."
