Prince Harry Splits With Chelsy Davy PDF Print E-mail
Written by Joanne Leyland
Saturday, 10 November 2007

Continues the unidentified friend: "Over recent weeks she's been coming down to London and partying with Harry's friends."

"They were together at Amika nightclub in Kensington just two weeks ago when Chelsy appeared incredibly down and subdued."

"She was not her normal partying self. She had confided it was because she was missing Zimbabwe and her family in South Africa but in fact she was having doubts about her relationship with Prince Harry back then."

"While they care for each other deeply she needs to be able to be her own person. She is pragmatic about the split. They're using it as an opportunity to take a break rather than splitting for good."

According to the Mail on Sunday, a royal aide has confirmed the end of Harry and Chelsy's romance, saying: "The relationship is over. It has simply run its course. Harry will be carrying on his Army career and Chelsy will continue her studies."

The prince himself is reported to have spent Friday night partying hard at a London club, where he ran-up yet another bar tab of thousands of pounds, having been heard to say he was going to get "as drunk as possible".

Trudie, I agree that both ladies have potential. Considering past experiences, perhaps longer engagements are preferable from the RF's view point, but it is very hard on the women. IF Kate or Chelsy is "the one," I hope the men grow up before it's too late.

Monika your right that Chelsy has had it a bit easier from the press. And do not get me wrong I like Kate and Hope she and William will eventually marry. I mean that by being her own woman Chelsy is not playing the game of winning a prince. Harry let her down on her birthday and she let him know how much it hurt her. And being late to the airport to pick her up well the look said it all she is no doormat to any man. I just hope she continues her education back home and makes a life for herself, I feel she has great potential. And I agree with Laura on Kate how can anyone defend "she needs time to herself" with only a four day work week? I think Kate has the qualities to do great charity work and even if it is photography she can use that to raise money for various organizations.

I agree with what you say, Monika. I do think that Chelsy has had it easier in the good publicity stakes. I agree with why you think that is so. Lets be honest, when Diana dated Charles she had to deal with some really rough media attention, that Fergie did not when she dated Andrew (and I think if she was dating Edward instead of 'Randy Andy' she would of had it even easier).

With regards to your statement that some quarters are jealous of Kate, sadly I have to agree with that too. I have often said that I thought that some of the bitter comments about Kate that are made on public forums are from a slight degree of jealousy. (Now, I'm not saying anyone here is jealous, I must state that!) Somtimes some of the nasty comments that I've read on OTHER forums appear to have come from a catty thirteen year old, and I was flabbergasted to read they had been written by a woman in her early fifties. It's funny how people work but, like I said I do agree that some of the comments can be put down to jealousy.

However, I must say I'm rather disapointed in Kate saying 'she needs time to herself' recently. I won't defend that.

Trudie, it’s okay, we’re entitled to our one percent of disagreement.happy-smiley

It’s funny how differently things can be perceived. You see, I’m not so sure she has been ‘her own woman.’ I think circumstances have simply been easier for her because she didn’t live in England and, therefore, wasn’t quite the target for the press that Kate became once she moved to London. IMO, that’s when it really started to get out of hand for Kate. I see it this way… Chelsy comes from a very wealthy family, yet she hasn’t been criticized for it in the way Kate has. Chelsy spent her gap year traveling the world with her brother and friends--and took breaks from that to go on holiday with Harry--yet she wasn’t criticized for any of it. Recently, she decided to continue her education, which is a good thing, but that too can be seen differently. It’s also a good way to continue the party hard lifestyle, without having to commit to a career. And, I’m sure her parents are paying for her education, her room and board and the car she had to buy. Now, I’m not suggesting that any of that is terrible, but I just want to point out that she was never accused of making herself available to her man in the way Kate has been.

Now this is only my opinion, but I think some of this “preferential” treatment can be attributed to the fact that Chelsy is not dating a prince destined to be king so she is not as “significant,” for lack of a better word. In addition, she is not perceived as the threat that Kate may be. By that, I mean Kate is the type of girl who can inspire jealousy. She comes from a good family with money, she’s good looking, she’s poised and confident and she always seems happy. Oh yes, and she's dating a future King. LOL. Unfortunately, those qualities are enough to make some people want to knock her down. I understand that Chelsy is not exactly ugly and she has money too, but it's not the same package as a whole. Granted that is only my opinion, but that is how I see the situation…

Trudie, feel free to tell me I’m nuts… LOL!!happy-smiley

I do feel sorry for Chelsy and Harry if the story is to believed. However, I can understand that Chelsy is feeling alone in Leeds, and even when Harry is not working he chooses to do his own thing must be ver upsetting for Chelsy.

To me, they are no different to the average young couple who are figuring out who they are and what they want from a relationship. It seems like they want different things.

My heart goes out to them if this is true, just please dont turn it into a on/off saga like his older brother!

I'm very unhappy to hear that Chelsy and Harry have broken up. Monika for once I sort of disagree with you. I liked the fact that Chelsy was her own woman and stayed true to herself while dating the Prince. I'm sorry but Chelsy is young and I'm sure that leaving her family and moving to another country was extremely hard and Harry having his commitments made her lonelier. I just hope they take time and figure out what is right for them.

thumbsupthumbsupTo Jean Sue and Monika! I really hoped that Chelsy took her school as seriously as her relationship with Harry when she chose to move to Leeds. Now, perhaps this means that she did - both aren't 'fun' any more. Harry is a handful, no doubt, and his military frustrations are probably at front and center - after all, what else is he going to brood about?

He's got every advantage, except for a mother, but many young men out there have the same disadvantages without the 10th of the support he's gotten from total strangers.

Dating a prince is no easy task, especially while trying to find one's own "voice".

While I'm not as big of a Kate supporter as I used to be, perhaps the Harry-Chelsy split may show that it does take a special person to commit. If anything, Kate and William's relationship is more realistic (how funny is that?) than his brother's.

I also wondered just how much support Chelsy got from the Royal Family or if it was one of those deals 'sure, let her move, but don't expect this to make her one of us'.

This may be a tempest in a tea pot - they've broken up a few times before, haven't they?

How Harry copes with this setback may just be a litmus test on how mature he is to have a serious relationship in the first place. I hope that they take care of themselves and only then, of each other.blue-smiley

Harry can't move to Zimbabwe, so this is a pretty big sacrifice from Chelsy. Both partners would need to be totally committed and it goes so far beyond passion. Chelsy only got a very small amount of intrusion into her life than her counterpart. I'm sure that both, if the split is true, are hurting badly for the moment.

I suppose only time will tell if this is a permanent split. They both deserve to be happy, with or without the other.

IMO, Chelsy is not princess material. She has always seemed a bit unpolished. I didn't care for the pictures of her licking another girl's breast OR the one of her in a cab with friends...one of whom gave photographers the middle finger. No class there, sorry. I'll take Kate's smile any day over Chelsy's pouty look.

I don't understand being bored especially when one is young; I don't think I've ever been bored except when I've been sick. I do know that a couple who cannot overcome minor obstacles is not going to overcome major problems down the road and there are always major problems down the road. Although I hate to say it, it sounds like two rich spoiled brats who think liquor is the most exciting part of life. Sorry, kids. Some of the greatest pleasures come when you are sober. ... and you can remember them and relive them!
