The
Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall could have been forgiven for believing that anything is better than spending the latter part of November in chilly
Britain.
That is until the couple arrived in Turkey for the latest stage of their
overseas tour, for it wasnt only the officials awaiting the royal guests of
honour.
Having bade farewell to officials at a warm and sunny Entebbe Airport in Uganda
following their attendance alongside the Queen and Prince Philip at events
relating to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), Charles and
Camilla were greeted by fog as they flew into Ankara Airport in Turkey.
The couple are in the country for the start of a four-day trip during which
theyll undertake a diary of engagements which are of especial interest to Prince Charles, who last visited Turkey in 2005.
Having been welcomed at the airport by the Turkish
President's Undersecretary, Mustafa Isen, the couple are preparing for a round
of engagements which will incorporate a visit to the mausoleum of one of Islams
most esteemed poets, Mavlana Jalaluddin Rumi, as well as a tour of a
9,000-year-old Neolithic settlement in Catalhoyuk.
Comment: Monika, as usual you have made a great post and made me laugh!!!

Comment: Is anyone really surprised? I wouldn't want to see C&C either!

Comment: I read elsewhere that a banquet specifically for Charles and Camilla in Uganda was a disaster. Half the invited guests didn't show up and backed out at the last minute saying they were tired...

Comment: Perhaps I've been too critical of Sarah; even she knew when to stop grinning.
