Page 1 of 2 The first paparazzo to arrive in the Alma tunnel
following the car crash which ultimately killed Diana, Princess of Wales has
told the inquest that he will not agree to give evidence. In correspondence revealed today by coroner Lord Justice Scott Baker, Romuald Rat said he was not prepared to give evidence by video link or at all, either today or any other day." The photographer has also slammed as "a lie" the statement of The Suns former picture editor, Ken Lennox, who previously told police that a photographer phoned him from inside the Alma tunnel offering to sell pictures of the crash scene for £300,000. In an e-mail sent to Martyn Gregory, the author of Diana: The Last Days, a book which concludes that Diana, Dodi Al Fayed and Henri Paul died in a straightforward road accident, Rat says of Lennox's statement: "This allegation is a total lie and defamatory and I will be very attentive in respect of my honour."
