An utterly fun but silly story as we head towards the weekend.
If Diana, Princess of
Wales were still with us she may have been tempted to embark on a quick tour of Britains
schools to offer a reality check to the next generation.
The reason?
A large number of young girls have apparently declared: 'When I grow up, I want to be a
princess'.
Please dont scream when I write 'according to a new poll'
but.........according to a new poll, ranking high in the list of career
choices for Britain's young female students is the desire to marry a
prince.
Other jobs which are attractive to young girls include life as a vet and a career in teaching.
However, as an adult Diana once quipped in the kind of sentiment which is likely shared by Anne, Mary, Maxima and co: "Being a princess isn't all it's cracked up to
be".
Then again, I should perhaps tell you that those interviewed in the new poll by The
Children's Mutual are only five-years-old.
Surely more than enough time, then, for the little ones to grow out of such a terrifying aspiration!
Comment: Maybe Disney and the marketing of all the princesses has something to do with it; now they are going to put out a line of fairies starting with Tinker Bell, who is anything but obedient. Hurrah for Little Girls. I personally adore the Villains.....the Evil Queen from Snow White is a role model Hey, it's better than Grumpy or Dopey.

Comment: This engagement was for a Britain Salutes America exhibition but it was at the Royal Academy in London - not New York.

Comment: Lol! It's a relief to know they interviewed five year olds! As for Mary and Maxima, they were blessed with something that eluded Diana...a supportive husband and in-laws.
