Edward & Sophie Introduce Viscount Severn To The World PDF Print E-mail

With Edward cradling their new son in his arms, the Countess of Wessex has just left Frimley Park Hospital following the birth of the little boy who will be known as Viscount Severn, a subsidiary title of the Earldom of Wessex.

The royal couple and their three-day old son made their first appearance before the cameras shortly after midday. And it would seem the new royal has the perfect antidote to dealing with the world's press....sleep!

Before leaving in a car driven by her husband, Sophie made sure to say thank you to the staff who've cared for her over these past days and months, giving bear hugs and kisses to two of the female staff outside the Surrey hospital.

While his official title is known, the baby who is eighth-in-line to the throne is yet to be given a name by his proud parents.

Due to the traumatic circumstances surrounding her birth and fears for the health of mother and baby, it took the royal couple almost three weeks to officially announce the name of their first child, Lady Louise Windsor, following her birth in November 2003.
