The two men implicated in the sex and drugs blackmail plot involving a minor member of the Royal Family have denied the charge during an appearance at the Old Bailey.

Appearing via video link from two different prisons, Ian Strachan and Sean McGuigan looked relaxed and even reportedly waved and greeted each other ahead of the start of today’s hearing.

The charge against the defendants is that "between January 1 and September 12, this year, with a view to gain for yourselves, made an unwarranted demand for £50,000 from a male with menaces".

The defendants were once again remanded in custody awaiting trial. This will begin on April 14th 2008.

The royal targeted in the plot, who cannot be named in Britain due to legal reasons, will not be called to give evidence.
