It wasnt long before rock royalty were queuing up to spend thousands of pounds on distinctive pieces
from the Linley range. Patrons include Sir Mick Jagger and Sir Elton John, both of whom were friends and associates of the Queens sister, who died in 2002. Asked about his famous fans, Linley said of the welcome patronage of famous faces who are also friends and associates of his family: "I'm just lucky that people like Elton are so generous and like the work." However, the Queen herself isnt averse to promoting her nephews business. During a visit to Africa in November 1999, the monarch presented the wife of President Rawlings of Ghana with an official gift of a jewellery box, revealing of its provenance: "I have brought you a box made by my nephew, David. He is very good at making things in wood." Comment on this article
