A Scottish Wedding For Peter & Autumn? PDF Print E-mail

In accordance with the wishes of his no-nonsense mother, Princess Anne, the birth of the untitled Peter Phillips heralded no pealing of church bells or celebratory gun salutes.

Now it would seem the wedding of Peter and his Canadian fiancee Autumn Kelly may be as low-key as the engagement which saw the happy couple posing for the only 'official' photographs in jeans and t-shirts...

It’s reported that Peter is planning to follow in the footsteps of his mother and her second husband, Vice Admiral Tim Laurence, by marrying at Crathie Kirk.

Built in 1854, Crathie is the private sanctuary in which royalty - from Queen Victoria to Queen Elizabeth II - have gathered to worship in good times and bad.

The tiny church became the focus of worldwide attention on the morning of August 31st 1997 when the Queen led her family, including princes William and Harry, to worship on the very morning the death Diana, Princess of Wales died in the aftermath of the Paris car crash.

The mood was one of celebration on April 10th 2005 when Prince Charles and his second wife, Camilla, made one of their first appearances as man and wife as they were greeted by local schoolchildren and wellwishers as they made an appearance at Sunday service less than 24 hours after they were married at Windsor.

The speculation that Peter and his Catholic girlfriend will become only the second royal couple to marry at Crathie is yet to be confirmed or denied.

Even the date of the wedding is yet to be announced, despite the couple having become engaged in July 2007.

Again in line with the wishes of himself and his family, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson says only in response to this weekend's speculation: "Peter Phillips is a private individual and it is not something we wish to comment on."
