William To Cheer On Wales PDF Print E-mail

Having been enjoying some time away from the spotlight during his four-month attachment with the Royal Air Force, Prince William is to return to the public stage this weekend.

But this won’t be too arduous a duty for the sports-mad prince as he travels to Wales for the latest stage of the Six Nations rugby championship.

The future Prince of Wales will be in Cardiff for a must-win match if the home team are to secure the title by beating France.

Looking ahead to what it’s hoped will be a royal occasion worthy of a mention in the history books, WRU Chairman David Pickering says: "We are delighted that Prince William will be at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday to share what I am sure will be a very special day for Welsh rugby."

"He has taken time out of an extremely busy schedule and we are delighted that he will present the RBS 6 Nations Trophy to the tournament winner."

The sight of William (and Harry) cheering on England having enraged some Welsh rugby fans, this will be the fourth time that the 25-year-old prince will have attended a match in his role as Vice-Patron of the Welsh Rugby Union.

One person may be relieved that this is an official rather than private appearance by the prince: his girlfriend, Kate Middleton.
