The Queen famously said of Princess Michael of Kent: "She’s far too grand
for us".
Now it would appear that sentiment may be
applicable to a former member of one's household who apparently
believes he’s simply too famous
to live in Britain...
Fresh from recent headline-grabbing controversies over his alleged perjury at
the inquest into the deaths of the Princess and Dodi, as well as further
revelations about his private life and marriage, Paul Burrell is back in the
headlines following a remarkable comment he made during his current stay in
America.
Addressing a group of women who turned out to see Burrell at an event at which
he promoted his increasingly extensive line of merchandise, the former butler
said of his fame: "This is what happens when you are attached to an icon. You
get followed wherever you go and people take your picture."
"That’s why I’ve come to live in America — the greatest country in the world
because that doesn’t happen in America."
