statement: “The Queen was safely delivered of a son at 8.20 this evening. Her
Majesty and the infant Prince are both well.”
The birth of Prince Edward at Buckingham Palace prompted widespread
celebrations, with even the normally tight-lipped Prince Philip revealing "I am delighted"
by the arrival of his third and final son who will ultimately inherit his title of ‘H.R.H. The
Duke of Edinburgh’.
