The First Editions: The Grand National Overshadows A Grand Old Duke PDF Print E-mail
Written by Joanne Leyland

He’s already in one place he likely hates to be: hospital.

Tonight, Prince Philip continues to find himself in equally unwelcome surroundings: in the headlines on TV news across Britain.

But in what we can only hope is a sign of the lack of serious concern for the health of the man who's carried out thousands of engagements over more than six decades - rather than an unspoken acknowledgment that the 86-year-old Duke just isn't glamorous enough to feature on the front pages (as we all know, even the most minor health scare involving the likes of Paris Hilton or (in terms of the UK media's obsession with celebrity) Kerry Katona produces banner headlines) - the Queen's husband features on just two front pages this Saturday morning.

Not surprisingly, one of the two national papers to put the news of Philip's admission to hospital on the front page is the publication which, as I appreciate I've mentioned several times on here, is the Queen's favourite daily newspaper.

The Daily Telegraph features a large picture of Prince Philip in high spirits during what looks to be an appearance at Royal Ascot or the Derby.

The accompanying headline reads: 'Duke of Edinburgh 'in good form' in hospital'.
