The First Editions: 'Harry To Marry' PDF Print E-mail
Written by Joanne Leyland

Three weeks after it was reported Prince Harry's taken to calling girlfriend Chelsy Davy "wifey", one Sunday tabloid is now splashing with the claim: 'Harry To Marry: Prince pops the question'.

But don't rush out to place a bet on a royal wedding and the emergence of a 'Princess Chelsy Yvonne Windsor' just yet, for this is the Daily Star Sunday we're talking about, such is the dirge of royal stories on the front pages of the first editions this Sunday morning.

The first sentence of the main story which is tucked away on page seven immediately instills doubt as to the veracity of the dramatic front page headline, reading as it does: "Love struck Prince Harry has had an "intense" heart-to-heart with his girlfriend Chelsy Davy’s parents - sparking speculation they are to marry".

According to the article, 'friends in South Africa are convinced' that a breakfast meeting the 23-year-old prince enjoyed with Charles and Beverly Davy during his recent holiday in Cape Town, South Africa, incorporated discussion about a possible marriage.

In a quote which incorporates not a little supposition, an unnamed source is quoted as saying: "It was a pretty intense conversation. He obviously had a serious issue to discuss with them. Harry is a traditional guy. He’d want to do things properly and ask for her father’s permission."

Meanwhile, following up on a similar story which appeared in the Sunday Express diary piece last week, a military source tells the Star that Harry had something of a one-track mind during conversations with his army colleagues on the front line in Afghanistan, claiming: "All Harry talked about was football and sex."

"Even when he was talking about football, he seemed to be thinking about ways of getting the chat back to sex again. He clearly missed his girlfriend a lot!”

Not surprisingly, it’s not the first (or likely last) time that a 'Harry is to marry' story has appeared in the British press.
