The First Editions: 'Harry To Marry' PDF Print E-mail
Written by Joanne Leyland
Saturday, 05 April 2008

Last August both the Sunday Mirror and the Sunday Express featured very similar stories, it being claimed that Harry had popped the question and Chelsy had said 'yes'.

Following a similar path to that seen with regards to the romance of Prince William and Kate Middleton, these reports were followed just months later by front page headlines screaming 'Harry and Chelsy Split'.

Meanwhile, proving that even the highest in the land don’t always know what’s going on with the royals, it’s claimed in the Portcullis diary column in the Sunday Telegraph that Britain’s Foreign Secretary, David Milliband, was left in the dark over Prince Harry's military service in Afghanistan.

The reason such a senior Cabinet Minister was left to discover the news via the Drudge Report?

The Ministry of Defence apparently feared the highly sensitive news would leak if officials told their counterparts at the Foreign Office.

Harry has a lot to lose. And they have already split up once possibly partly due to him going to a football match instead of hanging out with Chels for her birthday. This issue will come up again, year after year, til the end of their time possibly.

If Harry gets divorced it will be a much bigger deal for him than the ordinary bloke who is freer in many ways to make mistakes. And of course if those Nuts magazines were around at the time of the conversation, then...

I am just saying be careful. Harry has a big heart. It will really hurt if it gets broken.

Ok I could burst into song to further my point. I won't. I am not Harry's mother. The opposite sex as a parent can give clues relating to what motivates the opposite sex. I guess Harry could talk to Camilla or HM. Possibly his nanny.

Wills I think is doing the right thing by saying he is waiting til he is about 29. There are no guarantees of course. I think that 29 is a good age to get married. Harry has a lot to lose. And experience is something you gain after you need it.

I could add that the alleged facebook stuff could possibly be a clue something is not right, or incredibly stupid. I would think a person with dyslexia is extra vulnerable on facebook, and to possibly expose a person to ridicule and humilation I would suspect is not what average people do when "in love", of course I must add what in love means. No they protect each other. The couples who break up often are the ones who humiliate each other out in the open and talk about the other person's weakness as if it were a joke. My opinion only. And admittedly it is a strong one.

I am sure HM has her plate full again at this time. Possibly with a husband who may be difficult when asked to stay in his sick bed and a grandson who may be difficult if asked to stay out of Chelsy's bed for a cooling off period.

I haven't seen any evidence that Chelsy is being groomed to be a princess, and so I don't believe the story about the "proposal."

Why does HM have to approve what Harry does? He has managed to survive and accomplish a lot inspite of enduring the loss of his beloved mother at such a young age.

He doesn't look like Diana, but he acts just like her...true to himself.

I wish him all the best.

Do young men ever talk about anything but sex and football? And what was Harry supposed to talk about: his feelings on the Royal Marriage Act? perhaps his opinion of the new PM? what about the advantages of being royal--yeah, he'd have fit in with lads quite well with that topic. Give the guy a break.

I just read the story, and after considering the comment from a man who worked with Harry, all he talked about was sex which he thought meant he missed his girl friend a lot.

I would be very careful if I was Harry. Getting married does not necessarily mean more sex, sometimes it can even mean less sex. According to statistics, lots of married couples don't have sex with each other on a regular basis.

And of course if a person in such a situation goes out and has sex with someone else, (of course they can talk around what sex means like Bill did) still they face a huge liability relating to divorce etc.

I would be very careful if I was Harry, especially considering that Chelsy's Dad's situation is not clear ok I would call it cloudy, relating to politics and his financial situation. And it is just my opinion.

I can see living together. Or even having a place in between Leeds and London where they can meet all the time. I think these two getting married, if it is just about sex, will lead to ...

Harry hasn't really had a good role model relating to a couple acting like a couple toward each other unless he can count his grandparents. Now Chelsy has,I would suspect. Her parents have been together for a long time, and were probably married for the usual reasons. I doubt not just to have sex.

I can't see HM approving this one at this time.
