BREAKING NEWS: Diana Inquest: Coroner Will Now Accept A Majority Verdict PDF Print E-mail
Written by Joanne Leyland
Monday, 07 April 2008

The coroner at the inquest into the deaths of Diana, Princess of Wales and Dodi Fayed has just informed the jury that he will allow a majority verdict of 9-2.

This would appear to suggest that there is some disagreement between the jurors as to what caused the deaths of the princess and her boyfriend.

Lord Justice Scott Baker was responding to a question from the jurors, prompting speculation that a verdict is imminent.

However, the coroner has told the jury to return to their deliberations and attempt to reach a unanimous verdict where all eleven agree on the verdict.

The jury began their deliberations after the court rose at just before 12pm last Wednesday following six months of proceedings which included evidence from more than 250 witnesses.

More as the story develops.
