Exactly
a week after the six-month inquest into the deaths of Diana, Princess of Wales
and Dodi Fayed ended, a new royal court case is beginning.
This time, however,
its unlikely the wider world will discover very much at all...
The jury is being selected ahead of the start of the trial of two men accused
of blackmailing a junior member of the Royal Family.
As previously documented here, Ian Strachan and Sean McGuigan were arrested
during a sting operation at a London hotel and later accused of attempting to
blackmail the royal, who cannot be named in Britain for legal reasons.
The minor royal, who was later named in foreign media outlets, will not be called to give evidence in the case, much of which is expected to take place in secret. The two men deny making "an unwarranted demand for £50,000 from a male
with menaces" in the alleged 'sex and drugs' blackmail plot between January and September 2007.
