The First Editions: Controversy Reigns For The Royals PDF Print E-mail

If you think your job is bad, then be thankful you're not a Palace spin doctor whose daily role it is to document the royal stories featured in the British press.

However, with Prime Minister Gordon Brown on the rack
due to the increasingly gloomy state of the economy, the media have been surprisingly lenient when it comes to front page reporting of the latest difficulties to befall the Windsors.

As you can see, the Daily Mail does give over part of its front page to the man of the moment: Prince William.

As reported here earlier, no doubt aware of the outwardly negative PR attached to this story, the Ministry of Defence has felt compelled to explain how the second and third-in-line to the throne came to be afforded the opportunity to fly to Peter Phillips' weekend stag party on the Isle of Wight in an RAF Chinook helicopter (am I alone in thinking 'you couldn't make this up'?!).

No doubt readers will soon be having their say via the letters pages of our daily newspapers, perhaps in the process highlighting what the Mail claims was a £10,000 royal flight to the all-too-frequent defence budget cuts, some of which have seen service personnel sent to war without the relevant equipment to protect them from danger as they serve Queen and Country.
