The First Editions: Ministry of Defence Responds To William & Kate Story PDF Print E-mail

It's that night of the week when even the most hardened souls must surely feel sorry for the girlfriends of the two royal princes, William and Harry.

Barely a week goes by without the appearance of a Sunday newspaper story which would have the ability to cause the blood pressure of Chelsy Davy or Kate Middleton to rise a few points as the tabloids tempt readers with headlines which don't always live up to the hype.

And so it is with yet another report on the stag party of the Princess Royal's son, Peter Phillips.

The Mail on Sunday front page features the headline: 'William, that stag do and a girl called Gigi La Chance'.

Kate Middleton can relax, though, as the story appears to relate to nothing more than the fact that in attendance at the stag party - surely one of the most well-documented stag parties of all time - was the aforementioned Gigi La Chance, who is an ex-pole dancer at a nightclub owned by Peter Stringfellow.

Am I the only one to find it ironic that the paper appears outraged by the news that the government may soon be asking the nation for information about their private lives, whilst at the same time outwardly making a little mischief about Prince William, somebody whose private life is regularly 'snooped' upon?

Not that Kate was likely ever concerned by the paper's secondary headline, for it would seem her family home has also become a temporary pit-stop for Flying Officer Wales.....
