BREAKING NEWS: Garter Knight William Earns A New Feather In His Cap PDF Print E-mail
Written by Joanne Leyland

The installation of Lord Luce and Sir Thomas Dunne brings the total number of Companion Knights to the full twenty-four.

Members of the Royal Family are not included in this figure.

Other famous, present day members of the Order of The Garter include two former British Prime Ministers: Lady [Margaret] Thatcher and Sir John Major.

At the time of his departure from office last June, it was widely rumoured that the outgoing PM Tony Blair was destined to be installed as a Garter Knight.

However, it was later speculated that such an honour held little appeal to the ultra-modern Blair, the only British PM born during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.

Prince William's soul having been allowed to "sing openly" for almost three decades - exactly as his late mother would have wanted - it would appear 'Will Wales' days of 'normality' are about to become increasingly "immersed by duty and tradition".

While Earl Spencer's eulogy to Diana was one of the most powerful ever witnessed, there would probably have been nobody prouder than the late princess at the sight of her eldest son bedecked in the glorious Garter robes as he not only walks down the hill from Windsor Castle to St. George's Chapel, but ultimately continues his long journey to the throne.

Joanne, wasn't there a longer discussion here? What happened? Did somebody object to it? Please inform us what needs to be done to keep our discussions within civil boundaries. Thanks.

As someone commented on another site, William's grandmother was Queen at his age. I believe he has another year of military service and then he can begin his life's work in earnest.

How true, Joanne. No one would have been prouder than Diana, no one.
