It's been a month of awards and honours for
Prince William. First he received his R.A.F wings from his father and,
just this week, he was named as the 1,000 Royal Garter Knight, an
honour bestowed by the Queen.
Now it's been revealed that Prince Harry will soon receive an honour from someone he too knows very well indeed.
It’s been announced that the Princess Royal (Anne) will present her nephew with
a campaign medal in recognition of his ten-week tour of duty in Afghanistan.
The presentation ceremony will take place in Windsor on May 5th and will take place less than a month after Harry was promoted from Second Lieutenant (or ‘Cornet’) to
Lieutenant in recognition of his tour of duty in Helmand province.
The third-in-line to the throne will be just
one of approximately 160 servicemen and women honoured by the princess during the ceremony at Combermere Barracks.
The 23-year-old prince is entitled to receive the Operational Service Medal having
served a required minimum of four weeks at war.
Harry returned to Britain on March 1st following his participation in Operation Herrick, the title of the ongoing British mission in Afghanistan.
Prince Harry's premature return to England followed the
collapse of a news blackout which was agreed with sections of the British media ahead of the prince's secret deployment in mid-December 2007.
