Roll Up, Roll Up! Harry Takes His Little Pals To The Big Top PDF Print E-mail

Considering he's lived his life inside the royal palaces, you’d think Prince Harry would be used to seeing figures dressed in funny costumes jumping through hoops to please their masters?

Nevertheless, the third-in-line to the throne was apparently just as amused as his young friends as he led a large party of children on a visit to the circus in Lesotho.

Only recently returned to London following his ten-week tour of duty in Afghanistan, following which he enjoyed a holiday in Botswana with girlfriend Chelsy Davy, Prince Harry has once again returned to the road.

The 23-year-old prince has made a further visit to the tiny African kingdom in which he and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho launched their joint charity, Sentebale ('Forget Me Not'), in honour of their late mothers.

Although his earliest visits to the region saw Harry accompanied by a film crew as he attempted to spread the word on the realities of life for the children whose lives have been blighted by Aids, on recent trips the prince has opted to fore go the spotlight which is naturally his.

According to Daily Mail columnist Richard Kay – the journalist who was a great friend of Diana, Princess of Wales – last week Prince Harry and other
Sentebaleworkers took thirty African street children to witness the thrills and spills of the big top near Maseru, the capital of the kingdom which has received worldwide publicity due to Harry’s increasingly regular visits.

A witness to the royal appearance at Brian Boswell’s Circus tells Kay: "Harry loved it all and was as wide-eyed as the little kids around him."

As Harry himself has previously admitted when speaking of his work in Lesotho: "I love children but it's probably because I've got an incredibly immature side to me."

"And the nicest thing out here is they don't know who I am. I'm just a normal guy to them, which is really, really nice".

In some ways Harry is making an assumption that these kids do not know who he is. Since the kind of money Harry has could actually saves people's lives, these kids would probably jump through loops, and if one is pretending to not know Harry is a prince, they would probably play along.

"Doubtless these means [of attaining power] are cruel and destructive of all civilized life, and neither Christian nor even human, and should be avoided by every one. In fact, the life of a private citizen would be preferable to that of a king at the expense of the ruin of so many human beings." excerpted from Book I, Chapter XXVI Niccolo Machiavelli.

So Harry is quietly working for his Charity in Lesotho - which explains why the Tabloids are leaving him alone at present . They only report anything which can be blown up as a scandal .
thumbsup for Harry

William and Harry will always be in the papers for two main reasons…they are royal princes AND they are Diana's sons. Charity work may not get the coverage that nightclub outings do, but if their work is overshadowed (or outnumbered) by their antics, is the media entirely to blame?

It seems like once again, Harry's good work in Lesotho doesn't get near the coverage him visiting a nightclub would. No wonder so many think all he does is drink. I guess that sells more papers than the plight of orphans in a far away country.
